Annotation. Currently, the scope of toponyms in the territory of Kazakhstan is expanding in international contracts, official documents, foreign mass media, and the Internet. The correct spelling and orthoepic formation of toponyms common to all Turkic peoples of the country is closely related to the scientific interpretation of historical names and competent transliteration from other writing systems. From this point of view, it is most relevant to study the geographical and linguistic basis of the integration of the Turkic peoples -the geographical and geographical names of the materials under consideration from the library and archival collections of China and the countries of the East.

The article analyzes ancient Turkic toponyms in the cross-border countries of Kazakhstan and China, their historical and etymological character, geographical location, previous and modern transcription. The materials of the 2024 field scientific expedition to the Kazakh and Chinese transboundary territories were used as the research data of the article.
